Who is the writer on this ranch, this ranchers wife?

Often times in my stories I am referring to my husband Scott. He is the one who basically runs the show, but who is the one writing about this said show? I call myself the ranchers wife, or the running joke in the house- I am the city girl. But who am I really? My name is Cassie, nice to meet you all! I have lived in Wyoming my entire life, never even moved away once! While ranch life is basically brand new to me, animal life is definitely not! As far back as I can remember I have always had animals. My first dog was Oscar, some sort of gray poodle mix. He received his name by me from the character Oscar on Sesame Street. So this tells you how long ago Oscar was from! After that came Tom, a ginormous gray tiger striped cat. Obviously his name arose from the cartoon Tom and Jerry. Hey don’t judge! I was a kid, also aging myself a bit here! After that came my chocolate lab Hershey. She was standard looking chocolate lab, but she was so small! She must have been mixed with some other sort of breed. I remember the house across the street from me had a black lab, and she had a litter of puppies. I wanted one so badly, but my mom and dad told me no! Well, as any of you who really know me, I don’t take no for an answer to lightly! One day I was walking home after school, and the lady with the puppies was outside with them letting them run around. I was very intrigued by them, and I wanted a new puppy so badly. I asked her if I could have one, knowing what my parents already told me. She asked me if my mom would thinks it’s okay. Of course I told her it was okay! So I picked out my puppy and walked home with him. I was able to sneak him into the house, my sisters room actually without even being noticed. There he stayed for about 15 mins before I was eventually caught. I tried to hide him under a pillow. What a rookie move, my mom saw him right away. She made me take him back to the neighbors house immediately, and I had to tell the lady I wasn’t allowed to keep it.

After this came turtles, I had a red eared slider named Riley. Looking back, I don’t they were the best pets, they smelled so bad! At the time however, I thought it was amazing! None of my friends had turtles. Once the turtles went away, I found the amazing life of birds! My first bird was a parakeet named Percy. I tamed him from being a wild pet store bird, to one that would sit on my shoulder and walk around the house. Everything was great until my sisters cat ate him! That was a heartache and hurt I had never felt! I was devastated. I did not let that detour me though, more parakeets came and soon I had a mating pair. My dad made me a nesting box, and my female bird laid several clutches of eggs. One of her babies was an albino, she was pure white with red eyes. I was very proud of her, I even told people she was rare.

Even into adulthood my love of animals never went away. My first dog I bought as an adult was Sidney. She was an asthmatic little black Pomeranian. She lived to be 16! Although she lived with my parents most of her life, she was the first one I got without being told no! One of my dogs, a chihuahua who’s name is Loki came from a Facebook post. Someone was rehoming him as a teeny tiny puppy. Of course I needed him, so now I have a chihuahua. Loki is the oldest and is included in my dog pack I have now that consists of 8 others dogs. Yes a total of 9! Not all of them are mine, 3 are Scott’s dogs. I have Caine a male Great Pyrenees, Nora a female Great Pyrenees, Max a rescue male Pyrenees, Gunner a male black lab, Lilly a female Great Pyrenees and then Loki who I already introduced. Imagine how funny all those big dogs running around and then little Loki thrown into the mix!

So as you can see I am no stranger to animals. This is why having cows and pigs at my house makes no difference to me.

Aside from being an animal lover I am a mother of my three children and Scott’s two. Making a nice blended family. I work in the medical field and have my whole adult life. I attribute my knowledge to be able to think fast and problem solve quickly if there is ever an animal emergency that arises I am on it!

When I was a small child, I would write stories all the time. Every year I would submit to the young Arthur’s competitions, and my stories would win. I have always had a passion for writing and using my words to express myself. That is why this blog is so important to me. I have so many things to write about, and so much to say! I appreciate all of our followers and I truly hope you enjoy reading my stories!
