The chronicles of Bonnie and Clyde continue…. Well for Clyde…

Everything was going along smoothly for Bonnie and Clyde residing together- but separate in Alcatraz. They took to their cells pretty well, and Clyde has even become more friendly, allowing his head to be touched. On his terms that is. Clyde’s cell butts up next to general population. This is where the pregnant cows, and the calves are wintering. It’s a decent size pasture, which also houses the lamb Betty White, and the two crazy, and I mean that literally goats. Jack and Dave, named after our grandfathers respectfully, not that they are crazy by any means. So as this story continues, all was well on Crooked Hill Ranch. Things started to take a turn yesterday, when Earle the long horn bull, Clyde’s arch nemesis was relocated from solitary confinement to the general cells in Alcatraz. Clyde did not appear to be to bothered to see his ex partner in crime, but as per usual Earle was not to happy to see him. Everything remained calm and cool into last evening. The Great Pyreenes dogs did not raise ruckus, and stayed relatively quiet. So for Scott and I, we had no reason to go into the block to check on the villains.

This morning I awoke, and looked out the big front window in the living room and gazed into the general population pen. Something looked different. One of the cows looked to be brown and had horns! I immediately looked over, and seen Bonnie still in her cell. It had to be Clyde that escaped! I yelled for Scott to come quickly. “Is that Clyde?!” In fact it was Clyde, just living his best life surrounded by a bunch of women! Of course they did not seem to understand why this man was in their free roaming pen. They were all pointing , and looking at him, trying to figure out what he was doing in there with them.

We went outside to see how in the world he was able to get past a cell made of metal, and the extensions made of barbed wire. It did not take to long, we were able to see that Earle had pushed his entire cell over to Clyde. Trying to get away and avoid any trouble with his old partner, Clyde tried to free the scene. He managed to push his cell apart. Bending the metal tubes of his cell allowing access out! He then bent the general population pen fence wires and stepped right in with the ladies. Now as you can remember before, Clyde does not like to be caught, or chased. How does one convince an ex fugitive to go back into his cell without a struggle.

Earle’s cell was still pushed way out of place, and he did not seem to be bothered by any of what was happening. Understanding the true strengths these beasts hold, his cell would need to be reinforced. Not with barbed wire like his jumping counter partner, but with T posts. A new plan had been formed, and the remodel of Alcatraz would soon take place.

Earle was loaded without resistance into the trailer. He was then taken off site of Alcatraz so his cell could be altered. All the panels were moved to their original location as before. Scott gathered the T posts needed to reinforce the cell. The ground is basically frozen solid at this point in the season. The assistance of the skid steer is needed to push them into the ground. While Scott used the machine, I held on firmly to the posts. Holding them tightly up against the panels. Scott used the bucket to push from the top, while I held on as they slowly went in the soil. Once everything was set, heavy duty wire was then used to hold the T post and panels together. Knowing this bulls full strength potential, it truly is hard to know if this will contain this bully. Earle was soon set free back into his cell. He bellowed and carried on while the trailer was backing in. Clyde stood closely to the fence of general population watching everything unfold. Earle unloaded without toil, and he went back to his daily activity of shaking his head, and eating his hay.

Clyde is still residing in general population at the moment. He is a quick thinker, and a runner. Any strange movements on our end may engage his flight instincts. His cell is currently being reconstructed, and will be readily waiting for his return when we can think of a good plan to get him back in. At this moment, the chronicles of Clyde will continue…..
