Crooked Hill Ranch history
So you ask, where did the name Crooked Hill Ranch come from? When we moved into the property just after summer this year Scott and I would always curse the land saying everything is so crooked! As you can imagine living on a property where your acres are pretty much made up with mountainous hills there is not going to be many straight runs to work with. The chicken coop is sitting on a hill Scott created with the skid steer, but true Crooked Hill fashion it sat crooked! So part of it is leveled out with old wood we found laying around from a previous structure. The bull, Earle’s pen is up behind the house within some trees, which was leveled out just like the coop… maybe a little crooked. Just before the snow flew, we created two pastures for the cows. One on each side of our road. Most of the T-Posts went in smoothly, however if you walk the fence line, some of the posts look like they are taking a bow to you. This was not done on purpose of course, just the crooked land on the crooked hill.
After saying it over and over, the Crooked Hill Ranch and blaming the funny misfortunes on the property it just kind of stuck. Hence the name of our ranch, Crooked Hill Ranch. I even had a sign made that hangs on the house, it came with a teeny tiny version of its self, so I have that on a nail in the kitchen. Guess what it hangs crooked!
